Spain enters first recession for 15 years

The previously fast-growing Spanish economy has fallen into its first recession for 15 years, heralding further grim news from other European countries that release figures on Friday.Spain’s gross domestic product shrank by 1 per cent in the fourth quarter of last year from the previous quarter, and was down 0.7 per cent on the fourth quarter of 2007, according to official statistics released on Thursday.
